Adding Script at Linux boot
When I just completed my U.G, I was really free of hand. Thought of trying in deep with linux. When I was about to chose Linux distro, I had chosen Basic Debian(since I am from computers basic, I prefered Debian to go deep) and installed by network(had no GUI).
Usually while using XP, I personalised my startup with my favourite album “Loose control” from Rang De Basanthi.
I also tired up with mounting windows files onto linux (since there is no automount) everytime I logging on. Then I found the script to do anything at linux startup… LOOK AT BELOW:
1)Write the script in a file. put it in the /etc/init.d/ directory.
Lets say the file is AUTOMOUNT. (you can do this only as root)
let the sample script be:
#! /bin/sh mount /dev/hdc6 /mnt
2) In Terminal run the command (as root)
update-rc.d AUTOMOUNT defaults
3)You also have to make the file you created, AUTOMOUNT, executable, using command :
chmod +x AUTOMOUNT
You can check out % man update-rc.d for more information.
It is a Debian utility to install scripts. The option “defaults” puts a link to start AUTOMOUNT in run levels 2, 3, 4 and 5. (and puts a link to stop FOO into 0, 1 and 6.)
NOW I am feeling happy while booting with automounted partitions and I feel refreshing when I switch on to Debian hearing ” BE A REBEL…………..”
Some google search tricks
Enter just the word http for your search to find the top 1000 PageRanked sites.
Enter only www in your search to see how Google ranks the top 1,000 sites.
Manually type the following prefixes and note their utility:
# link:url Shows other pages with links to that url.
# related:url same as “what’s related” on serps.
# site:domain restricts search results to the given domain.
# allinurl: shows only pages with all terms in the url.
# inurl: like allinurl, but only for the next query word.
# allintitle: shows only results with terms in title.
# intitle: similar to allintitle, but only for the next word. “intitle:seoforgoogle google” finds only pages with seoforgoogle in the title, and google anywhere on the page.
# cache:url will show the Google version of the passed url.
# info:url will show a page containing links to related searches, backlinks, and pages containing the url. This is the same as typing the url into the search box.
# spell: will spel…
